Mr. Volk is a partner at Hagens Berman where he has worked
since 1996.
As a member of the Intellectual Property practice of the
firm, Mr. Volk focuses on patent and licensing litigation.
In the past he has worked extensively on hotel tax
collection cases against a number of major online travel
companies (OTCs) including Expedia. The case against
Expedia resulted in a summary judgment in favor of the
plaintiffs, and an eventual settlement for cash and
credits totaling $134 million.
Mr. Volk was extensively involved in the Tobacco
Litigation in the late 1990’s. He wrote many of the
major briefs on behalf of the states represented by the
firm. In addition, he helped research and develop legal
theories used in the action, and headed the successful
attack on defendants' claims that millions of
documents were privileged.
Mr. Volk brings considerable expertise against some of the
largest corporations in America, including Bank of America
and General Motors, as well as his innovative methods to
Hagens Berman’s IP practice.
