Facebook may have infringed 'like' button patent

Mark Zuckerberg's social network is facing legal action over its use of the "like" button and other tools of the site, including the Timeline. A patent-holding company claims thatJoannes Jozef Everardus Van Der Meer, a dead Dutch programmer, patented the feature in 1998.

Because Van Der Meer died in June 2004, months after Facebook's debut, his family is now defending his allegedly legacy through Rembrandt Social Media.
